Since graduation, I have developed my experience based on NCARB’s IDP reporting categories. I started my career at NewGround as a Junior Designer/Planner. Most of my registered hours fell under the Schematic Design and Design Development categories. During my time there I noticed a lack of real experience with Construction Documentation. In a failed attempt to filter some CD experience into my work load, I sought a position that would offer just that. Impact Architects Hired me to strictly draw Construction Documents for 9 months. This work was stressful yet rewarding because of the responsibilities handed to me in such a sink or swim environment. Once a significant portion of my required CD hours were fulfilled I started looking for a position that would offer more balance in my workflow.
